The skis are put to bed for winter and it’s soon summer. Join a handful of members who also enjoy the fairways and greens as much as they love the powder and the steeps.
We will play 18 holes at West Richland Golf Course on Friday June 20, 2025. Tee times start at 8:00AM and 8:07 and every 7 minutes after per foursome West Richland is not to be confused with Pebble Beach or even Meadow Springs or Canyon Lakes in our Tri Cities area. The fairways and greens at “ Westy” as its nicknamed are lumpy and rough due to a high water table given its proximity to the Yakima River. Golfers on many visits there often see deer, coyotes, muskrats, beaver, owls, and in late spring run off, an occasional carp swimming down the fairway.
The attraction to West Richland is its cost, $30 including cart per golfer for 18 holes. The clubhouse is posh having been rebuilt from a fire 15 or so years ago.
The owner, Michelle is very accommodating and grateful any golfers that show up. She keeps the liquor cabinet full and the cooks generate scrumptious grub.
Those of you with a handicap you take pride in may not wish to partake in this outing. This day is all about fun. Golf is an afterthought. We have a limit thus far of 8 golfers. We will gladly establish waiting list as it is early yet.
Your host John “ turf digger” Morris will have various awards and prizes for Desert Ski Club memorable moments, golfing and other noteworthy happenings after our 18 holes. It’s a great chance to kibitz with other ski clubbers about last ski season, the upcoming season, your golf game and other topics.
