Walla Walla Wine Weekend - Itinerary

The Desert Ski club is taking a trip to Walla Walla on October 18th, 2025. We will be carpooling to Walla Walla and making our first stop past Walla Walla in the Airport District, before continuing into downtown Walla Walla where we will park our cars and take a walking wine-tasting tour. All wineries will be providing a set tasting of 5-6 wines, including both white and red selections, with discounts applied to minimum purchase requirements set by each winery. Lunch and mid-afternoon appetizers will be provided. Following the wine tour, members are free to explore the various restaurants, breweries, shops and bars of Walla Walla before walking back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep. Following is a detailed itinerary for this trip:
Saturday, October 18, 2025
11:00 AM – Meet at Dunham Cellars,150 E. Boeing Ave, Walla Walla
11:00 AM - We will meet at Dunham Cellars in the Airport District to begin our tour. Dunham is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025 and is a family-owned winery that stives for excellence from vineyard to bottle, and sources fruit from several renowned estate vineyards in prime locations around the Walla Walla and Columbia appellations. There, we will taste six wines while enjoying gourmet charcutier, salad, and dessert. (NOTE: please allow an extra 10-minute drive time from the Tri-cities past Walla Walla)
12:20 Depart for Quality Inn & Suites, 520 N. 2nd Avenue, Walla Walla (Check-in in the evening following the wine tour)
12:40 Begin walking from Quality Inn parking lot to the first winery which is located a few short blocks away.
1:00 PM – First up on our walking tour will be at the elegant Seven Hills Winery tasting room. The winery was founded in 1988 by Casey McClellan and inspired during a European cycling trip through wine country, where he and his wife Vicky experienced wine as an integral foundation to communities and an important, vital part of small-town agricultural life. Over the past three decades, the winery’s endeavors have continued to reflect an unwavering commitment to creating wines that showcase the distractive terroir of Walla Walla Valley.
2:30 PM – Spring Valley Vineyards located in the heart of downtown Walla Walla. The land that the Corkrum, Derby, and Elvin families farm today is rich with history dating back to the mid 1800.s, when the current vineyard owner Shari Corkrum Derby’s grandfather, Uriah Corkrum, began farming the area. In 1993, Shari and Dean Derby planted the first grapes at Spring Valley. The first vintage of Estate grown and bottled wines were produced with the 1999 vintage. Discover the distinct heritage of estate-grown red wines that reflect the dedication of six generations of family farmers while enjoying hot appetizers with their delicious wines.
4:00 PM - We will finish our wine tour with a private tasting at Proper/ House of Bones Tasting Lounge. Over ten years ago the founders of Proper Wines set out to produce wines that are Rhone in character while showcasing the uniqueness of the Walla Walla Valley and its 6-acre estate vineyard in the Rocks District. From Day One they’ve aligned themselves with the land, farmers, and winemaking styles that are most in tune with this philosophy and approach. In 2018 Proper Wines merged with Rotie Cellars to become a strong force within The Rocks District of the Walla Walla Valley.
5:30 PM – Quality Inn and Suites Hotel Check-in. Guests will be able to check-in at their leisure; room assignments will be made in advance. The hotel requires guests to provide a credit card to have on file for incidentals.
5:30 PM - Dinner on your own. There is a large variety of highly rated places to choose from, including Brasserie Four (French), Saffron Mediterranean Kitchen, Walla Walla Steak Company, El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant, Walla Walla Indian Cuisine, and many others. Most are fairly small establishments and will be busy on the weekend. Advanced reservations recommended.

7:00 AM – 10:00 AM – Continental breakfast included at the hotel. Alternatively, there are several good breakfast spots in Walla Walla. Again, they will be busy so make your reservations in advance.
