Due to popular demand we have been "Spurred" into action to return the Mt Hood and the Cooper Spur Mountain Resort! Mt. Hood Meadows (MHM) is one of the best places in the Pacific Northwest for spring skiing; there's always plenty of snow in April and there's always a party atmosphere to go with all that snow.

Mt. Hood Meadows (MHM) offers the most challenging and diverse terrain of the 3 ski resorts located on Mt. Hood. Averaging 430” of snow a year, MHM offers some of the best big mountain terrain and amazing views in the Pacific Northwest. A reliable Cascade snowpack comes from the constant winter storms along the Oregon coast and provides a season that lasts well into May each year. Its extensive terrain and gate-accessed canyon skiing earns Meadows a premier status in the West.

MHM offers more than 2,150 acres of skiable terrain and its highest lift-served elevation is 7,300 feet. With 11 lifts, including 6 high-speed quads, the entire 2,150 acres of skiable terrain is easily accessed. Skiing MHM is a big mountain experience, with enough acreage to keep you busy for days. Oh, and let’s not forget the discounts available on lodging and lift tickets during spring skiing season!

Our trip includes: 3 nights lodging, a champaign welcome toast, a “Pasta Party” dinner buffet, and an après ski in “the Govy”.  Lift tickets for MHM must be purchased separately.

Lodging:

We are once again staying at the Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, a rustic mountain resort owned and operated by MHM.  Cooper Spur is located on the north side of Mt. Hood and sits in the midst of the beautiful Mt. Hood National Forest.  Located just 14 miles from MHM, Cooper Spur accommodations include motel rooms and stand-alone cabins, a resort restaurant and bar and two large outdoor hot tubs. The motel rooms come with refrigerators and microwave ovens and the cabins come with gas fireplaces and full kitchens.

Lodging options include the following

  • Cabins for 4 people (2 BR+loft; 1 queen/1 queen/2 twins)
  • Motel rooms for 2 people (2 queen beds)

Lift tickets:

  • Resort guests can buy an all-ages $59 day pass (price to be confirmed) to ski Friday; pass must be purchased Thursday at the resort front desk.
  • With Indy Pass: $0 per day for 2 days! Optional 25% discount based on MHM’s daily “dynamic pricing” for a third day.
  • Without Indy Pass: Purchase day passes at the front desk for Friday and on the MHM website for Saturday and Sunday (subject to daily “dynamic pricing”).
  • For a super saver “3 ski-day deal” buy a $59 lift ticket at the resort for Friday and use your Indy Pass for Saturday and Sunday!
Social Events:
  • Friday: Champaign welcome toast followed by a “Pasta Party” buffet dinner at the resort's Crooked Tree Tavern and Grill (cash bar).
  • Saturday: Après ski get-together with appetizers at Charlie’s Mountain View Pub in the “Govy” (aka Government Camp; cash bar).
  • Fri-Sun: On ski days there will be informal group gatherings at lunchtime on the deck and/or in the bar of the main lodge. We also like to hang out mid-mountain at the Mazot hut for music and “brews and dogs”!

Transportation:

Drive yourself or carpool, the drive time from the Tri-Cities to the Cooper Spur resort is 2 hours 45 minutes (175 miles).  The Cooper Spur resort is located just 14 miles from MHM. Round trip distance between the Tri-Cities and the Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, including a 2-day commute to/from the ski area, is approximately 405 miles. If you carpool gas costs are shared equally between the passengers and the driver.

Costs:

April 2-5 (3 nights lodging, Thurs-Sun):

  • $395 with Indy Pass (same per person price to stay in either a cabin or a room).
  • $59 lift tickets available at Cooper Spurs front desk for Friday skiing only.
